Fortnite Account Activate: Guide to Fix Errors

Epic Games allows its users to play Fortnite for free, but in order to do so, you’ll need an account.
If you’ve encountered the Fortnite account activate error, we’ve listed some troubleshooting tips to help you fix it.

• Epic Games has disabled Fortnite’s account activation servers, so players can’t create an account.

Change the region

1. Open Settings in Windows 10.
2. Navigate to the Time & language section.
   
3. Click the Region & language option.
4. Choose the Change location option.
5. In the Change location window, select the Country and Region from the available list.
6. After selecting your preferred country, click Next.
   

Uninstall and reinstall Fortnite

1. Uninstalling Fortnite and reinstalling it can fix some activation errors. To uninstall the game, open the Settings app as outlined for the first solution.
2. Then select Apps in the Settings app.
   
3. Select the Fortnite app on the Apps page, and select Uninstall from the app details.
4. Click the Uninstall button.
5. Click the Uninstall button again to confirm.
6. Click the Yes button on the confirmation prompt.
7. Then, click the Remove account option on the confirmation prompt that opens.
   
8. Click the Yes option on that prompt.
9. Then, click the Done button on the confirmation prompt.
10. Open the Epic Games launcher.
    
11. Click the Sign In button, and enter your account details.
12. Then, click the Sign In button.
13. Open the Epic Games launcher again, and click the Sign In button.
14. Now, click the Sign In button again, and enter your credentials again.
    

Change your Microsoft account

1. Go to This PC > right click on your Microsoft account
2. Select Account > Change account settings
   
3. Now, select Sign out.

Clear your cache

1. Press the Windows key + S, type browser, and click on the relevant search result.
2. Click on More tools and Clear browsing data.
   
3. Choose the Time range, and click on Clear data.

Change your DNS

1. Open Run using the Win + R hotkey.
2. Enter ncpa.cpl in the Open box, and click OK.
   
3. Then select the Manual, Use the following DNS server addresses, and enter the IP address for your preferred DNS server.

Check your internet connection

1. Make sure you have a stable internet connection.
   
2. Check if certain network adapters or devices are connected to your Wi-Fi.
3. Try opening the game on a different device
   Sometimes, glitches can occur due to issues with your router.
4. Use a wired connection
   Ensure that your connection is wired, and not using a wireless.

Change your DNS settings

1. Open Run by pressing the Windows key + R.
2. Enter ncpa.cpl in the Open text box, and select the OK option.
   
3. Select the Use the following DNS server addresses option, and then add the following IP: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
4. Restart the computer.
5. Change your IP setting to Static
6. Change your IP settings to Static
   
7. Restart your device

Disconnect your VPN

1. This step is vital because VPNs are known to cause issues with Fortnite, including account activation errors. To disconnect a VPN service, open your Windows Start menu.
2. Click on the Windows Search feature.
3. Type Control Panel and open the first result.
4. Click on Network and Internet.
5. Click on Network and Sharing Center.
   
6. Click on Change Adapter Settings.
7. Right-click on your VPN and choose Disable from the drop-down menu.
