- The java command line errors usually appear when you try to run Java programs.
- The java command line error message “Cannot run program” usually appears due to missing library files.
- To fix this issue, run your Java software with administrator privileges.
Check if Java is installed
- Open the Windows search bar and type Java.
- Select Java from the list of search results.
- Click on the Change button under Settings.
- Under the General tab, select Update.
- Under Security, uncheck the Enable automatic updating.
- Now, under the Updates tab, click Uninstall.
- If the Java software is not installed, search for Java again.
- Select the Java download page, then click Download.
- After the download is complete, double-click on the installer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- Check Java version
Open the Windows search bar and type Java. - Select Java from the list of search results.
- Click on the About button.
- The version will be displayed on the screen.
Run the JAVA_HOME environment variable
- Type JAVA_HOME in the Windows Search bar, right-click on Java and select the Settings option.
- Once the dialog opens, expand the System Variables section, and click on the Path tab.
- Ensure that the value of JAVA_HOME environment variable is set correctly.
Update your Java installation
- Go to Downloads section in Oracle Java official website and download the appropriate installation file
- Run the file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the Java on your system
- Restart your computer
Create a new folder
- Open File Explorer and right-click on the empty space.
- Choose the New > Folder option.
- Type EndNote in the text box, then click the Create button.
- Open the new folder.
- Type cmd in the text box.
- Right-click on Start, then select Run.
- Type cmd in the text box, and click OK.
- In the command window that opens, type cd /d EndNote.
- Enter the following command and press Enter: Endnote.bat /s nmelf
- Wait for the process to get completed.
