How to Fix Keyword Errors in Google AdWords Management

Keywords are an essential part of an effective Google AdWords campaign.
However, there are times that you may encounter keyword errors, which would prevent your ads from showing.
In today’s article, we will explore a couple of fixes to fix this problem.

Check keyword settings

  1. Go to Keywords in the AdWords menu.
  2. Select each keyword and check that you have selected the correct Match Type (Exact, Phrase or Broad).
  3. Exclude keywords from campaign

  4. Go to Keywords in the AdWords menu.
  5. Select the campaign containing your keyword.
  6. Select Excluded keywords.

  7. Click the + button to add new keywords you want to exclude.

Check for keyword availability

  1. If the keyword you’re using isn’t available, AdWords automatically suggests a keyword to replace it.
  2. To check for keywords, click the Keywords tab in AdWords.

  3. Next, select Keywords to open the Keywords Library.
  4. Then right-click the keyword and select Keyword Details to open the window in the snapshot directly below.
  5. If the keyword is unavailable, the keyword suggestion feature will show a “Keyword not available” message.
  6. Click on the suffix icon to display the suggestion.
  7. Click Suggest new keyword and enter your preferred keyword.

Create a new Ad Group

  1. Make sure that you have only one ad group per account
  2. Open Google AdWords

  4. Enter your ad group name

Add negative keywords

  1. Negative keywords are words or phrases that users search, and you don’t want to show your ads to them.
  2. If you’re experiencing keyword errors, try adding negative keywords to avoid irrelevant traffic.

  3. To add or remove keywords, log in to your AdWords account.
  4. Select the campaigns or ad group that contains the keyword that’s giving you trouble.
  5. Click the Keywords tab.
  6. Click Add or remove keywords, located under Keyword and match type.
  7. Enter the words you want to exclude from the search terms, and then verify the changes.

Create a new ad group

  1. Click on Campaigns, then click on Ad groups.
  2. Click the + sign to create a new ad group.

Modify your Search Network Placements

  1. Open the Google AdWords Management account.
  2. Then, click the Campaign tab.

  4. Click the campaign you want to modify, and then click Placements.
  5. Click Edit next to the Search Network settings.
  6. Click the campaign you want to modify, and then click Placements.
  7. Click Edit next to the Search Network settings.
  8. Select Edit next to the Search Network settings.
  9. Then, change the Search Network Placements setting to Manual, and search to associate the campaign with the Search Network.
