Autodiscover is a feature used to configure Outlook 2013 with Office 365. This tool helps with authentication so users can access their emails and folders.
However, some users have reported Autodiscover not working in Outlook 2013. This issue prevents users from accessing their emails which can prove to be a huge problem.
So in today’s article, we’re going to show you how to fix this problem in just a few simple steps.
- If you don’t have your Outlook account configured, you won’t be able to sign in to Outlook.com.
- If you’ve set up Outlook.com, but are still encountering the message, Autodiscover isn’t configured, follow these steps.
Check if Outlook is configured properly
- Go to Start, type Outlook, then click on Outlook from the search results.
- Right-click on Outlook, then select Properties.
- Select the Internet E-mail tab.
- Check if Outlook automatically configures the proxy settings.
- If Outlook is configured properly, close it.
Check if Outlook is running
- Launch Outlook and check if it opens. If it does not, then restart Outlook.
- Check for Autodiscover URL
Go the Outlook Options and check to see if Autodiscover URL is entered. - Check Autodiscover DNS
Go the Outlook Options and check to see if Autodiscover DNS is entered. - Check Autodiscover SRV Record
Go the Outlook Options and check to see if Autodiscover SRV Record is entered. - Check Autodiscover URL Forwarding

Check Internet connectivity
- Restart your PC.
- Restart your modem.
- Restart your router.
- If the issue is with your internet connection, then try using another network.
Check if Proxy server is enabled
- On your Outlook 2016 click on Options icon and select Mail.
- In the Advanced tab, look for Internet Options and click it.
- In the Connections tab, scroll all the way to the bottom and check if you are connected to a proxy server.
- If Proxy server is enabled, uncheck it and click OK.
- Check if the Outlook is using SSL
On your Outlook 2016 click on Options icon and select Mail. - In the Advanced tab, look for Internet Options and click it.
- In the Connections tab, scroll all the way to the bottom and check if you are connected to a SSL (HTTPS) server.
- If yes, please click on Advanced and select Disable SSL 2.0 and Disable SSL 3.0.
