- The windows not genuine error means that your PC isn’t licensed.
- You can try using the Windows license key finder tool to find your license key.
- You can also use the Windows License Activation Troubleshooter to fix this error.
Use SFC and DISM
- Press Windows + S, enter cmd, and click on the relevant search result.
- Paste the following commands, and hit Enter after each line:
Repair Windows 10
- Go to Start, type cmd, and open Command prompt as an administrator.
- Paste the following command and hit Enter: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the process to finish.
Use the slmgr /resetcounter command
- The command will reset the counter for keys that are used for signing, without deleting the key.
- Restart your PC after the command is executed.
Use the slmgr.vbs command
- Type slmgr.vbs and press Enter.
- A window will appear that contains all the installed Windows versions.
- Right-click on your current Windows installation.
- Select Change Product Key
- Enter your current product key and press Enter.
- Restart your computer.
Repair the BCD store
- Type in cmd in the search bar, right-click on Command prompt, and select Run as administrator.
- Type in the command below and press Enter: bcdedit /import d:\windows\system32\bcd
- Restart your computer
Reinstall Windows 10
- Press Windows Key + I to open Settings.
- Click the Update & Security option.
- Choose Recovery from the left pane.
- Now click on Get Started under Reset this PC.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the process.
Disable Automatic Updates
- Go to Search and type Windows update, then click on Update & Security app.
- Click on Advanced options.
- Under Windows Update settings, uncheck the checkbox labeled Automatically download updates.
- Go back to Windows Update settings and click on Check for updates.
Perform a Clean Reinstall
- Go to Search, type cmd, and open Command prompt as administrator.
- Enter the following command slmgr /rearm
- Restart your PC and check if the problem is resolved.
